Lemforder, named after the German town in which it was founded, has a rich history dating back to 1947. Initially, the brand focused on providing innovative chassis technology to German automakers.
After two years of operation, Lemforder expanded its product range to include rubber-to-metal elements. Soon after, the brand began supplying high-quality tie rods to large car manufacturers such as Auto Union, Daimler-Benz, Opel, and Volkswagen.
In 1954, Lemforder patented a ball joint and expanded its product range even further, offering tie rods, control rods, ball joints, wishbones, and stabilizers.
Throughout the 1980s, Lemforder worked closely with BMW, and its partnership with the company proved to be highly successful. It began producing the first aluminum control arm for BMW, which went into mass production. In the years that followed, Lemforder also manufactured the first axle system for the BMW Z3 and the BMW X5 SUV.
Since 1984, Lemforder has been a part of ZF Friedrichshafen AG. Today, it is considered one of the top brands for OE-quality chassis and steering components for a wide variety of vehicles, including passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, heavy commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and off-road vehicles.
Lemforder is committed to investing in research, development, and state-of-the-art technology to ensure that it provides high-quality products made with uncompromised precision. Each product is strictly tested under heavy loads, simulating real-life situations, to meet the high standard of production and testing required to maintain its world-renowned reputation.
More than 50 carmakers around the world rely on Lemforder products in their vehicles. Although the brand has manufacturing plants across the globe, the majority of the engineering is still done in Germany.
After prototyping and designing products for various car manufacturers, the final step is to road-test them in real-world conditions. This way, car manufacturers can ensure that the products meet all the standards they require.
