The FAG brand has been recognized since 1905 when it was registered in Berlin. The name actually stands for Fischer's Automatic Steel Ball Factory, or Fischer's Automatische Gussstahlkugelfabrik in German.

Between 1905 and 1914, the brand expanded rapidly due to the growth of the automotive industry, particularly in Germany. Half of FAG's revenue came from exports to Western Europe and the United States, and the company employed more than 800 people during this time.

Despite economic and political challenges in the 1920s, FAG managed to expand its product range to include roller bearings, and by 1925, employed over 2,000 workers.

In the 1930s, FAG made contracts with companies in the Soviet Union, and the need for components increased significantly.

Despite losing over 80% of its production facilities during World War II, the company operated through its subsidiaries in various countries in the 1980s.

Today, FAG is renowned for its high-quality OEM parts, including ball, taper, cylindrical, and spherical bearings for passenger cars. Since 2002, the company has been a part of the Schaeffler Group, along with INA and Luk.

FAG components are used by many automotive companies, including Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Maybach, and Nissan, with parts produced in 63 factories worldwide. However, counterfeit FAG products are a problem, so customers should look for genuine packaging, an original FAG sticker with three codes, and a plastic shell covering the bearing when purchasing authentic FAG products.
