It began producing the first aluminum control arm for BMW, which went into mass production. In the years that followed, Lemforder also manufactured the first axle system for the BMW Z3 and the BMW X5 SUV.

Since 1984, Lemforder has been a part of ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
