I purchased the car pictured here in February 1997. It was completely bone stock and had logged a mere 56k. To this day, the body and paint on the car are still original. I have all records for this M3 since the day it left Evergreen BMW in Frederick, Maryland. The original owner in Virginia purchased the car new in early 1987. After eight years of ownership, he sold the car to the second owner in late 1995. The second owner, a Japanese diplomat living in Washington, D.C., kept the car for 1 year before he was called back home. In 1996, my 22-year-old cousin in Maryland purchased the car. He found the car in a local paper and was the first person to go and see it. Since he had seen my 1988 Lachssilber M3 (now long gone, but very fondly remembered), he wanted one for himself. Knowing him and what he liked in cars, I knew this car wasn't for him. In February 1997 he decided to sell the car -- I was trying to find a buyer for him. Lachssilber M3. I got a ride to Maryland the following weekend and drove back with my new Alpinweiss M3. The car remained in stock condition until I unfortunately totaled my Lachssilber M3 at Bridgehampton in October 1997.
